More than 40 athletes are currently supported by DIS across a wide array of sports from the main site at the University of Derby and the satellite sites at the Queen’s Park Sports Centre and Healthy Living Centre, Staveley in Chesterfield.

The Derbyshire Institute of Sport (DIS) programme is staffed by a number of dedicated sports professionals who are experts in their respective fields. The core team look after the day-to-day running of the DIS and manage the strategic direction of the programme. The support team work with athletes on their individual strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and massage. The specialist sports coaches work with the athletes on an individual basis, to progress the technical ability of each athlete.

The Derbyshire Institute of Sport has been put in place to leave less to chance and to develop a conveyor belt of success. We have a number of committed partners who are ensuring Derbyshire athletes have the best possible chance of achieving the Olympic Dream; The University of Derby, Golden Dreams, HUUB, Don Amott and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
