Introducing: Derbyshire Institute of Sport ELITE AMBASSADORS
The ELITE AMBASSADORS are a select group of senior Derbyshire athletes being supported by the Derbyshire Institute of Sport on their pathway to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Over the coming weeks we will introduce you to them, before we follow their journey to Paris, with updates on their training and competitions ahead of the big show this summer!
Derbyshire-based C5 paracyclist Morgan Newberry is a member of the Great Britain Cycling Team, and has a busy year ahead of her, with the World Championships in March, before hopefully achieving Paralympic Qualification for the games in August and September.
Currently on a warm-weather training camp in Mallorca, Morgan will be working with the team at the Derbyshire Institute of Sport to support her with her Strength and Conditioning and Sports= Psychology - particularly as British Cycling's base in Manchester is, as Morgan says, "so close yet so far away".
With a 4th place finish at the World Championships, three third places in the World Cup series, and a second place finish at last May's Road World Cup in the USA already in the bag, we're looking forward to seeing Morgan's results in 2024.
