Welcome to our new head of strength and conditioning coach James Quinn who comes to us from the University of Derby.
James will be leading all coaching to our Performance Academy athletes at their regular gym sessions at the Derby Arena while assisting head of athlete development Laura Lewis to develop the program.
He was originally on the same Loughborough College sports science degree course as Laura and after that spent five years working at Nottingham Trent University asa fitness instructor working with clients, sports teams, scholars, and athlete cohorts.
Over the last three and a half years James has worked at the University of Derby as its lead performance coach.
James said: “Working at the Derbyshire Institute of Sport will be a different challenge for me as it means dealing with a wide age range of athletes but I am relishing the opportunity to get involved with such a great team.
“I’m looking forward to engaging with the athletes and helping them be the best they can – and then watch the good results come in.”
James was a youth player at Grimsby Town FC as a teenager and today his sporting ambitions lie on the golf course.
