Introducing: Derbyshire Institute of Sport ELITE AMBASSADORS
The ELITE AMBASSADORS are a select group of senior Derbyshire athletes being supported by the Derbyshire Institute of Sport on their pathway to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Over the coming weeks we will introduce you to them, before we follow their journey to Paris, with updates on their training and competitions ahead of the big show this summer!
Our first ELITE AMBASSADOR is well known to the DIS community, and describes himself as having been "part of the DIS family" for over nine years.
Alex Knibbs, a 400m hurdles specialist, is working hard towards Olympic qualification. He's currently on a warm-weather training camp in Tenerife preparing for the season ahead.
"The DIS have always been a helping hand through the changes that have occurred in my pathway over the years", Alex says. "I have built relationships and trust with all DIS staff, and to have these connections as a norm allows me to feel comfortable in my training environment and helps me perform to my best ability. I wouldn't be able to get this kind of support from anyway else in Derbyshire which is so key to helping me reach my goal of Paris 2024."
