DIS is a family. Since we launched in 2012, our brood of athletes, their families and our brilliant supporters, sponsors and partners has grown and thrived. Like families across the world we now face a period of massive, temporary change and our first concern is for everyone’s health, wellbeing and happiness.
We have postponed all upcoming events: our monthly CONNECT meetings, our April Derbados cycling challenge and our May pre-Olympic dinner. We would encourage you to follow our social media channels for all the latest news about rescheduled dates and arrangements.
The good news is that our brilliant coaches are still training, supporting and mentoring our talented young athletes remotely, using video conferencing and other technologies so that they can continue to benefit from strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and help with nutrition and psychology. We will be sharing their stories of how they are doing in these extraordinary times on our website and social media channels. Their ambition to become world-class remains undimmed.
Our coaches are going to share tips, advice and ideas on our channels to help us all stay positive and well-motivated. Do feel free to contact us using any of the methods below. We’d be happy to look at any requests for what you’d like to see on our social media channels and our website – and if we can help, we will.
Former professional basketball player Bill Bradley said: “Sports is a metaphor for overcoming obstacles and achieving against great odds. Athletes, in times of difficulty, can be important roles models.”
Our athletes continue to make us proud every day with their spirit and resilience and we hope they can inspire you, and future generations.
Stay safe, be kind, and we look forward to when we can see you again in person.
