Derbyshire Institute of Sport (DIS) swimmer Molly Renshaw is gearing up for the Rio Olympics, as the former Ripley Rascals and Derventio eXcel breaststroker explains in her blog.
“So it’s now only a few days until we leave the country and head for sunny Brazil!
We firstly travel down to London on Thursday for our first night as a full team before flying with British Airways the following day.
We first have a holding camp in Belo Horizonte where most of us will begin our taper and hopefully start feeling fresh before heading down the the Rio Olympic Village on August 2.
Racing then begins on August 6, all the way through to August 13. I will be competing in the 100m breaststroke on August 7 and the 200m breaststroke on August 10.
Until then, I have time in Loughborough to get the last hard sessions in and make small gains in the gym, not to mention the packing of all of our Team GB kit which we received just over two weeks ago now.
The quality and quantity of the kit is so overwhelming, and I can’t get the grin off my face every time I try it on!
The kitting out day made it all seem so real, and the excitement and nerves began to kick in.
Training so far has been going very well and my performances in the pool have given me a lot of confidence going into Rio.
